Who Was...Admiral Nelson The Sailor who dared all to win
Nelson was unmatched for bravery and daring. If there was a risk, he would take it. There was no point, he thought, in fighting a sea battle unless the enemy was completely and utterly destroyed.
He pursued Napoleon's men across the seas of the world. For every shot the French fired, the British fired two. Nelson became a celebrity at home and a hero at sea.
But now, blind in one eye, one arm lost, he faces the ships of France and Spain, gathering in the harbour. Will his luck and courage hold?

It was a great victory, an explosion of light in a dark time for England. Nelson was the most popular man in the fleet and the country. The wretched San Nicolas became known as "Nelson's Patent Bridge for boarding First Rates." He was promoted to Rear-Admiral, and made a Knight of the Bath. Everyone (except his wife Fanny, who as usual wrote begging him not to take any more risks) was delighted with Nelson - nobody more so than Nelson himself.
He was a real hero now. And this was only the beginning...'
